In lab models, cooling the skin reduced itch behaviors across common itch pathways (histamine and non-histamine).

01

When skin was cooled from normal to about 20 °C (68 °F)—and more so at 17 °C (63 °F)—itch behaviors dropped significantly vs. warmer conditions. The effect depended on intact cold-sensing (TRPM8) neurons.

02

In a chronic dry-skin model, cooling from 30 °C to 20 °C reduced scratching on the itchy side to the same level as the non-itchy side—i.e., cooling normalized itch.

About Eczema

Eczema, also known as atopic dermatitis, is a chronic skin condition that causes dryness, inflammation, redness, and intense itching. It often flares up periodically and can affect people of all ages, though it’s especially common in children.

What is it?

Eczema can significantly impact quality of life, causing discomfort, disrupted sleep, and emotional distress. Frequent scratching can lead to broken skin, infections, and a worsening of symptoms, creating a cycle that’s difficult to break without the right tools and care.

Why is it an issue?

Soothee offers a safe, non-damaging way to relieve itching, helping to interrupt the itch-scratch cycle that worsens eczema. Its cool, rounded metal surface soothes irritated skin without causing further harm, making it a gentle and effective tool for eczema management.

The itch cycle is a frustrating loop that many people with skin conditions know all too well. It starts with an itch, which leads to scratching in an attempt to relieve the discomfort. While scratching may feel good in the moment, it actually damages the skin, causing inflammation and irritation. This damage triggers even more itching, which leads to more scratching — and the cycle continues. Over time, this can worsen skin conditions, delay healing, and increase sensitivity. Soothee helps break this cycle by providing a safe, cooling way to relieve itches without harming the skin. Its gentle, rounded surface and soothing cold sensation calm irritation, offering relief without the damage caused by scratching.
